To be honest the  quoted banner is not true to his words. At the time candidate Obama was speaking of electricity rates and his plan for Cap and Trade. The full quote from the Washington Examiner Online is:

Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is  good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know,  natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was,  uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They  will pass that money on to consumers.

The sentiment however appears to be a core belief, that we must be nudged into the behavior he and his elite core of statists believe we should be content with.  In the President’s latest maneuver to bring about his green vision, one which the free market rejects, he appears to be rejecting North American petroleum to maintain our dependence on Middle Eastern petroleum. Let’s pause for a moment to take this line of logic. A trusted neighbor to the north offers a critical resource and we reject it to mollify a small special interest, the Green Lobby (The unions must be loving this). This rejection keeps us dependent on the whims of an arguably deranged cultist who may at any time escalate tensions placing at risk our fragile economy and the lives of our sons and daughters. It would appear after years of study we as a nation are to reject the Keystone XL pipeline. Fox News Online reports that the project is to be rejected by State.

The State  Department will announce the decision on Keystone  XL pipeline is “no,” as early as Wednesday, an industry source told Fox  News, suggesting that the department will say 60 days is inadequate time to do  the required environmental impact assessment on the path of the coveted  pipeline.

While the State Department for three years has been  reviewing the initial proposal to run a pipeline from Canada  down to Texas through a sensitive Nebraska aquifer, and it had been through  several other approvals, the department backed away from plan after  environmentalists complained.

The president however will not be inconvenienced by this decision. His position warrants his heavily armored vehicle for his protection. Such a vehicle is hardly a candidate for green conversion as no green source is capable of powering it adequately to move it. The rest of us however are on our own. We must scrap our existing vehicles in favor of what we are told to use even if that choice is outside our resources to afford. After all we have to force everyone into the Chevy Volt; think of how much we as a nation have invested in it! And by the way, that Volt must run Premium.
